Back to the Basics - it's what works!

I hope that this finds all of you happy and full of cheer after the holiday last week!  I have taken a bit of a break from writing - not really on purpose, when life gets busy my writing is the thing that takes the back seat.  But I do really find that I miss it when I go without writing for a stretch.  One of my New Year's resolutions is to write more - it's good for me and I have found out that there are actually people out there that want to read what I write on a more regular basis - WHO KNEW! 

A few weeks back I was very excited because Weight Watchers rolled out their new 2012 Points Plus Plan.  I wasn't really sure how they were going to improve because I really liked the new PP+ program they rolled out at this time last year - but they managed to do it.  I had eluded to the fact I had heard they were going to give Lifetime Members access to eTools for FREE - well, friends it was not a rumor - it is REAL!  I have been back to using the eTools tracker, etc for three weeks and man can I tell the difference.  Since the beginning of December I have lost 4.2 pounds - and I blame it all on the tracking!  I had gotten seriously derailed on the tracking portion of my journey and needed to make a quick correction.  I am really enjoying having the eTools back at my disposal and have also installed the mobile app on both of my phones (work and personal) so I can always keep track and know where I am at for the day/week. 

My workouts have also been pretty consistent - I have been running at the gym and outside, I have started Phase 3 of the New Rules of Lifting for Women and I am feeling pretty good.  It has gotten really hard getting to the gym at the crack of dawn every day but I am trying.  My friends Melissa and Jen are both starting at my gym this week so that will be a HUGE help - there is nothing like knowing someone is waiting for you to get you motivated at 5AM! 

I really hope that everyone made it through the holiday relatively unscathed.  I feel good about the choices I made this past weekend.  I worked out and ate within reason.  I even discovered a new recipe that my aunt brought to NYE - it was so good and I plan to share that on the blog soon.  If you had a rough holiday, health wise, shake it off and start fresh this week.  There is nothing like heading in to the New Year in control.
